Reward Charts are a fantastic way to encourage your child to reach milestones, and be rewarded for good behaviour. They are recommended by many leading child experts. Personalising a chore chart makes it instantly obvious for your child that this is about them, and that their behaviour can be rewarded through the progression of a chart. We offer several types of charts.
These charts have no specifics assigned to them, just plenty of boxes to fill, they are more generic, and allow you to decide to reward your child after one row is full, or the whole grid. Ideal for potty training.
These allow you to specifiy a specific target within the chart(such as tidying your room, brushing teeth etc) and have a 7 day cycle
These allow you to use a photo of your child within the chart, to help emphasise ownership of your childs progress.
All our reward charts are A4 sized, are plastic coated so can be re-used with stickers and wipe clean pens. We also sell star stickers, additional themed stickers and marker pens to allow you to frequently change the details and the reward that you child is aiming for as they grow.
By using a reward chart, you are able to reinforce good behaviour instantly for your child. This helps show them the relationship between their good behaviour and the praise you give them, both verbally and visually in a reward chart. On each reward chart you are able to specify a prize or treat for your child, giving them something to aim for. When you child misbehaves or is naughty, you can remove a sticker from the chart. Always ensure you are very clear as to why you are doing this, so that they understand the consequences for their actions.
It can also be beneficial to give children smaller rewards or treats along the way, for example, each time a line is completed. A reward chart does not have to be an individual task. A combined chart can help brothers and sisters work together and in some instance can achieve much more. For rewards, try not to make it all about material items, days out, or trips to the park are much more beneficial, and really take the time as a parent to get involved with them. TV programs such as supernanny highly recommend the use of reward charts
Setting tasks on a reward chart is a great way to help children develop in their weaker areas. For example, a child may be very good at cleaning their room, but not so good at cleaning their teeth. When they realise they need to complete the "clean your teeth" line in order to achieve their target, their motivation is improved.
Sometimes, especially for younger children, defining tasks can be too complicated. A simple sticker reward chart, or star chart is all that is needed. You get a star for good behaviour - whatever the task, and one removed for naughty behaviour. A full reward chart and the child gets their prize
